Justin Gardner

In 2004, my wife, Laura, and I chose Hilliard as the best community in which to raise our family, primarily because of the excellent reputation of the schools.  We purchased our first home in Hilliard in 2004 and our daughter was born in May of this year.  Needless to say, I am a very proud parentMy decision to run for the Hilliard City School board was not made without significant consideration to the time commitment and responsibilities the position entails.  While I adore spending my evenings with my family, I am quite concerned that the recent rapid increases in property taxes are forcing families and retirees to choose between either moving out of the school district or cutting living necessities in order to stay in their houses in the district.  If elected to the school board, I pledge to work to maintain a quality education for our students at a cost that is sustainable by the community.

As a financial auditor who has worked in the public accounting field, I have expertise in areas that seem to be missing in the current board:  risk analysis, internal controls, long term budgeting/forecasting.  I will bring to the board a strong, fiscally conservative approach to school spending, balanced with the desire to maintain the high quality of education for my daughter and the children in our school district.
